After a week struggling with back-pains from hell, I really wasn't looking forward to this months gig. After fetching back a repaired amp and monitor wedge from electro-music (and being 69 quid lighter) Noddy and Steve B set about setting up .. dreaming about permanantly fixed PA's
A great gig though, 400 people in attendance, who were treated to a great show......
Sound Check was its normal stress time.. 5.30, and we had several incomplete bands and not a drumstick or cymbal in sight!!... eventually we got through it, although, poor old Fire Escape Routine.. they arrive on time, and they managed to get the short end..
I have to say, when we opened the doors at 7.30, I was overwhelmed. A flood of people.
Its difficult to pay as much attention to the bands as I would like to, when I have the door to look after, but The Fire Escape Routine seemed to continually improve. Bhuna were great.. I must see this band where I can pay more attention.
After all the anticipation (and stress) it was great to see "Here is the List of Your Dead Friends" I did manage to get nearish to the front. Mental!
Bullrush were quality... nothing revolutionary, just four solid musicians doing what they love... they should do it more often!
quote of night, by a bullrush follower, probably in her early thirties .. shouted to her friend at the other side of the door...."don't come in here, its fucking horrible, its packed with kids, red hot, sweaty and you cant move and can hardly breathe"
