Well, the first gig of theYorkshire "tour". After the gig at the Fez, everyone was really looking forward to this one. Five bands on the bill - ExistEnd, Atraiou, Subliminal Fear and our old friends Laruso.
Existend opened up and played a quality set. I still feel that some of the twiddly solo's don't fit right, but they are undoubtedly talented, and do have a couple of good tunes. Not sure the running order was right, as Atraiou did have a hard task, sandwiched between Disarm and the heavyweight screaming metal that is Subliminal Fear.
Disarm were mint.. Noddy, spinning around like a spinny thing, loads of rock posturing, spitting of beer, swearing shouting and even a suprise appearance by Brads little twins. Jamie had his first outing with backing Vocals and looked very much the part. A fairly sparse crowd, but they mostly seemed to enjoy it. Got some good video footage .. including Brads little twins.
Really nice to see the guys from laruso, and great to see them play again. So much better in the intimate Boardwalk than the cavernous empty dustbin of the corporation where they played recently. The set is sounding very heavy, and they were their normal superb selves. Showing incredible sacrifice, Max apparantly gave away tickets (in backstage passes) to NIN so he could play this gig.... all respect.
Some good feedback after the gig... thanks to Tam, Jav, Mrs Ritalin, laruso, Existend, Ant, and a big thanks to Sister Julie who popped her disarm cherry tonight.
