Where is The Civic?
By road: Mexborough, is not a big place. There is one dual carriageway. - Driving up the dual carriageway from the Swinton/Rotherham direction, towards Doncaster, you go under a flyover. Shortly past that, there is a sharp left turn, onto Bank street. (basically doubling back in the opposite direction) drive down this street. You will pass on your left, the Red Lion Pub, then the Empress. straight after the Empress is the "Spice Library" The Civic is underneath this.
Coming down the dual carriageway, from the Doncaster side, from the roundabout 200 yards down the road take the sliproad, follow the flyover at the end a sharp right takes you into the car park.

By train: Get to to Mexborough Station. Walk towards the town. Cross the dual carriageway, keep going up, and turn right at the end. its about 200 yards up.

We always try and give support to young local bands. .. and no .. its not because they bring in a crowd, its because one reason we do this is to support the local music scene.
We are not supportive of pay to play. We do not do ticket/flyer deals. We do not hire the place out to you. Its really simple... you try as hard as you can to promote it (as you should for every gig) .. you turn up ON TIME and play, you get some beers (or water) we'll generally be able to pay you some expenses, and you have a blindingly good gig.. then you go away and tell everyone you played the best venue in Yorkshire!
